From Salt Pan to Kitchen: Inside Our Process

Salt pans on the marine salt belt near Gandhidham, Gujarat

Before it's a pinch in your cooking, every grain of Ankur Salt has gone through six deliberate steps, the same way, every single batch, since 1994.

1. Sourcing

Raw salt is sourced from our own fields on India's marine salt belt in Gandhidham, Gujarat, close to Kandla and Mundra ports.

2. Washing and crushing

Raw crystals are washed to remove impurities, then crushed to a uniform size before refining begins.

3. Refining

Fully automated machinery, built on Swiss technology, triple refines the salt into Free Flow Iodised Salt, reaching a purity greater than 98% NaCl.

4. Iodisation

Iodine is added and mixed to a controlled 20 to 30 ppm content, monitored continuously so every batch stays within range rather than checked occasionally.

5. Quality testing

Before packaging, every batch passes through our in house QC lab, where qualified staff run more than 12 tests.

6. Packaging and dispatch

Once cleared, the salt is sealed and dispatched to distributors, retailers and export markets around the world.

The bottom line

None of this is visible on a shelf. Triple refined. Not just refined; it's the six steps behind that label that decide what actually ends up on your table.
